Home Delivery of Pharmaceutical Products – How Arra Group Is Transforming Healthcare

The dynamic development of pharmaceutical logistics in recent years has opened up entirely new possibilities for patients in accessing essential therapies. At a time when safety, convenience, and timely deliveries are crucial—particularly for people with chronic illnesses requiring regular treatment—solutions that enable receiving medicines right at the patient’s doorstep have come to the forefront. One of the pioneers of such services on the Polish market is Arra Group, a logistics operator specializing for over 20 years in the transport of pharmaceuticals under controlled temperatures.

A New Stage in Medicine Logistics – Home Deliveries to Patients

Before 2020, delivering medicines from hospital pharmacies directly to patients was not possible. This changed following an announcement by the Chief Pharmaceutical Inspector on April 3, 2020, which—in response to needs arising from the COVID-19 pandemic—permitted the delivery of medicinal products to a patient’s place of residence or to their legal representative. The new regulations paved the way for services that have become a major convenience for many individuals.

It was at this time that Arra Group, responding to the real needs of patients and medical facilities, launched a service delivering medical products directly to patients’ homes as part of drug programs carried out by hospital pharmacies. This solution proved especially important for people with disabilities, seniors, and patients who, due to weakened immunity, feared visiting hospitals during the pandemic.

Over 20 Years of Experience in Pharmaceutical Logistics

Since the beginning of its operations, Arra Group has focused on comprehensive support for the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors. The company provides road, rail, air, and sea transport, specializing in shipment under strictly controlled temperature ranges—from –25°C to +25°C. Thanks to its extensive infrastructure, specialized drivers, and advanced monitoring tools, Arra Group is capable of meeting even the most demanding logistics processes.

Today, this long-standing experience combined with the highest service quality and an empathetic approach to patients makes Arra Group an important part of the pharmaceutical supply chain in Poland and worldwide.

What Does the Medicine Delivery Process Look Like?

Transporting medicinal products directly to patients’ homes is subject to particularly strict procedures. The key lies in combining advanced technological safeguards, proper operational procedures, and the knowledge and experience of employees.

1. Precise Transport Planning

Each delivery is meticulously planned: route, stops, refueling points, departure and arrival times, as well as details about the driver and vehicle. The information is then entered into the Control Tower system, enabling real-time monitoring of each stage of transport. This allows identification of events such as opening or closing of the cargo space, increasing delivery safety.

2. Continuous Temperature Monitoring

Medicinal products require transport within strictly defined conditions—usually between +2°C and +8°C. Arra Group’s fleet, consisting of over 300 specialized vehicles, is equipped with refrigeration units capable of maintaining temperatures from –25°C to +25°C, with the option to set two different temperature zones simultaneously. Electronic measuring systems are regularly calibrated because uncalibrated equipment invalidates measurements and may result in the need to dispose of the medicines.

3. Scheduling and Communication with Patients

Deliveries are carried out according to a fixed schedule, adherence to which is one of the key responsibilities of the logistics operator. A designated employee contacts patients to inform them of the date and time the driver will arrive.

Importantly—at the request of hospitals, deliveries are always made by the same dedicated driver, ensuring a sense of security and building trust among recipients. Many patients consider the driver to be an important link in their treatment process.

Transport Safety – Three Pillars of Arra Group’s Quality

Transporting medicines is a task of exceptional responsibility. Arra Group bases its operations on three fundamental pillars:

1. Technological Safeguards

Specialized vehicles, temperature-monitoring systems, full transport traceability, and advanced supervisory software are tools that minimize the risk of deviations.

2. Procedures and Regulatory Compliance

Arra Group operates in accordance with strict pharmaceutical regulations and Good Distribution Practice (GDP) guidelines. The company is the first carrier in Poland to receive GDP certification. It also holds ISO 9001:2015 and TAPA certifications, reflecting advanced quality and security standards.

3. Knowledge and Experience of Employees

Regular training, increasing awareness about supply chain safety, and the responsible approach of everyone involved in the process ensure that Arra Group maintains the highest level of service quality.

Logistics with a Mission – Caring for Patients’ Health

Arra Group emphasizes that its operations are not only a logistics service but also an important component of protecting human health. Delivering medicines to patients’ homes is an example of how transport can meaningfully improve the comfort and sense of safety for people living with chronic illnesses.

Thanks to efficient organization, modern solutions, and an empathetic approach from its staff, the company supports hospitals and patients during the most challenging times. It is a mission of which Arra Group is particularly proud.
